Overview
Historic Essex Railway Station – Authentic Period Film Location
Step back in time with this beautifully preserved Victorian railway station, tucked away in the heart of Essex. Rich in character and untouched by modern development, this atmospheric location is a dream setting for period dramas, heritage productions, and historical re-enactments.
Original red brickwork, vintage signage, traditional platform canopies, and an operational track create an authentic 19th to early 20th-century look. The station includes a charming ticket office, waiting rooms, and signal box – all meticulously maintained and oozing period detail.
Surrounded by countryside and with minimal modern interference, this station offers filmmakers the rare opportunity to shoot timeless scenes with minimal set dressing. Easy access for crews and flexible hire options available.
Exclusively managed by Third Eye Location Management – connecting storytellers with locations that transport audiences.
The station has unspoilt countryside vistas to 3 sides, and a fully operational level crossing at one end of the station, complete with white swinging gates, which is not on a public highway, allowing for complete control over the scenes and action without needing to apply for road closures.
At both of our stations we have all the fixtures and fittings that you would expect of a railway, including sack barrows, parcels weighing scales, period luggage and platform benches. As well as crews to operate the trains, we can also provide staff in period dress, and are happy to help with a few words of friendly advice or even work in conjunction with your team to assist with historical accuracy.
